Dear Readers,

Welcome to the December 2022 edition of the Funding Strategies newsletter!

Strong Strategy | Business Model Development | Advisory Board Roles | Equity Capital Raising

Funding Strategies was formed in 2012 to meet the needs of emerging and growing companies to become investor ready and access the capital markets. We were regularly seeing companies with a business plan but not a funding strategy - hence the name. Our business is built on strong values and ‘doing the right thing’.

Initially we acted as an Australian Small Scale Offerings “Sponsor”. The business has evolved over time and has developed processes, software and systems to provide a corporate, systematic and compliant process to raise capital. We have become a trusted venture brand in the corporate advisory space and a specialist in Small Scale Offers and equity venture capital.

Over the years we have had 60+ clients, we have operated mostly on the east coast and worked with a diverse range of businesses.

The key ingredient in any business is people and we are proud to have an inclusive and diverse team, around 30 over the years, some of whom started their finance career with us. We enjoy teaching and regularly offer internships. Many of the core team members have been with us for 5 years or more. A special mention to Eugenia Arrarte (pictured below right) who joined us within days of incorporating and is still a valued member of our team.

Some notable events over the past 10 years include

  • Merging of the business with Steve Hartley’s ITB Corporate Strategy in July 2013;
  • Set up of a number of ESVCLP funds;
  • Created strategic relationships around debt;
  • BlueMount Capital relationship;
  • Corporate advisory assignments.

Examples of successful raises and exits for investors:

  • CRe8 Home Finance
  • ATIC
  • PRM (ASX listing)
  • Instant Consult (strategic investor)

We sincerely thank our customers,

suppliers, partners and team members

for helping us on the journey.

QCC Group update

QCC secures $600,000
in first round of funding

We are delighted to share QCC's announcement:

"QCC Group, has, with the assistance of Funding Strategies, negotiated and executed a $600,000 convertible note investment with a new investor.

The investor has experience in parallel industries to QCC in NSW and is interested in working with QCC on some short-term requirements as well as some potential long-term opportunities. The original first round investment target of $500,000 was increased after negotiation to $600,000.

Rob Boogers (pictured left), QCC’s Managing Director, says “We are very pleased as the investor has his own, Sydney based, business specialising in the heavy vehicle industry including the development of hydrogen/electric trucks. Discussions are already underway for QCC to provide wiring looms and harnesses for his Heavy Vehicle business as well as for other companies in the same market that are part of his network.“."

Enviroplas Holdings update

Upcoming Webinar

Enviroplas Holdings is the holding company that owns Global Fruit Protection Pty Ltd (GFP) and associated subsidiaries. GFP is an Australian company that currently sells a proprietary product into the banana growing industry in Australia. The product, called ClipSlip®, is designed to protect bananas while they are growing and also allows pickers and handlers to safely secure fruit during picking and processing.

The product was previously manufactured in China, however, GFP is now establishing a plastics recycling plant in Mareeba to recycle the Clipslip® and other plastic waste products generated by the farming industry into new ClipSlip® and other plastic farming products.

At this webinar, attendees will have a chance to get to know the Company, meet the team behind Enviroplas Holdings, receive the latest update from the Company, gain insights on the current opportunity and ask the questions they want answered.

Timing doesn't suit? Book in anyway and we'll send you a link to the recording after the event.

How to raise equity capital

in Australia

An article by Eugenia and Stephen

It is very common for businesses to raise additional capital to grow and scale their operations. The main forms of capital are debt or equity. In this article we give a general overview of how to raise equity capital in Australia.

ASIC states that companies can raise capital from the general public via a disclosure document to offer securities for sale. An alternative is for private companies to raise under "non-disclosure" from existing shareholders, employees, known stakeholders and the general public via a personal offer, an offer to exempt investors and crowd-sourced funding.

Ideally, a company should commence raising capital early - well before the funds are needed, as it takes time to get a company investor ready and to source the required funds. If you are considering raising capital, please get in touch with us. Our team is always happy to take you through the various funding options that could be a fit for you and your business!

Funding Strategies Out & About

Zoholics

Our office manager, Birgit, attended the Zoholics Australia 2022 conference in Sydney last week to explore and discuss Zoho's Cloud Software Suite and its over 50 SaaS Applications, some of which help us run our business.

The conference was attended by approx. 200 users, partners and Zoho team members. Amongst the attendees were Cyrill, Yujia and Carmen from Zoho partner A1CRM who look after us when we need technical support, as well as Michele from the BlueMount Capital office in Sydney.

Attendees spent two days in an interactive environment, learning about Zoho's latest product features, gaining insider tips, discovering new Zoho solutions to meet business needs, and much more.
