Welcome to the February 2024 edition of the Funding Strategies newsletter!
|
Kung Hei Fat Choy! Wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
|
"We have seen an increase in business confidence over the
last few months although finding the right people seems to be the number one
business concern at the moment.
The local stock market has been edging
higher with stronger markets in the USA, and fallout in China over extended
property companies.
Locally we have seen companies looking for assistance
around strategy and expansion plans, working capital, growth capital,
acquisitions and sell side transactions.
We are also seeing more need
from clients around management accounting (rather than tax accounting) and
putting strategic plans in place to support funding and the objectives of the
business.
From our side this also goes hand-in-hand with governance and
quite often we are helping founders from an advisory board perspective."
Please get in touch if we can be of any assistance to your business.

Your Business: How a Strategy Session can assist
Eugenia writes "Strategy sessions allow our client’s company, with our support, to design a road map to understand how the company can move forward, and determine how much money the company needs, and short, medium and long term actions to take to meet the identified goals. As we are not involved in the company’s operations, our suggestions are entirely independent."

Asia Private Equity Forum & Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong
|
Our Director, M&A, Flora Mok (image left), was happy to attend the Asian Financial Forum followed by the Asia Private Equity Forum in Hong Kong in January in person.
The Asian Financial Forum (AFF) is the region’s premier platform that brings together influential leaders from government, finance, and business communities globally for ground-breaking discussions and exchange of insights on the global economy from an Asian perspective.
The Asia Private Equity Forum (APEF) is a leading annual industry event in the region, organised by the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA), Asia's oldest and largest private equity industry group.
|
|
|
|
Flora reports that:
- "AFF has attracted a record high number of participants of 3,600 and
APEF was well received by the private equity funds, other investors and
advisors from Hong Kong and other regions with hundreds of people attending.
- During AFF and APEF, Flora was able to meet with
a number of existing and new contacts to strengthen relationships with investors, funders and advisors in this region.
- The speakers generally considered that though
there is uncertainty over the economic situation in the region, the investors
and funders in Hong Kong are active in identifying global investment
opportunities, including in Australia and South East Asia. Particularly,
some of the speakers considered that Australia provides a relatively safe
investment environment that can generate good returns.
- Private credit was one of the key topics during APEF and the speakers considered that there is a potential growth of private
credit deals in Asia Pacific.
- In conclusion, the investment environment in
Asia Pacific is expected to improve despite existing challenges. Australia continues to be a key investment market for a number of investors and
funders."
